Have fun with your camera, learn to identify local invasive plants, enjoy the sunshine… and even win up to $200!
The Central Kootenay Invasive Plant Committee is running a photo contest during the summer of 2008. The goals of this contest are to raise awareness about the invasive plants species in our area, and provide the CKIPC with photos that we can use in our educational activities.
For all of these categories, “invasive plant” refers to those on our list. We are accepting entries in the following categories:
Categories
Category 1: Impacted Habitats
Areas that have definitely been affected by the
growth and spread of invasive plants.
Category 2: Human Impacts and Invasive Plants
Recreational pursuits and areas that
have been used by people that have impacted the habitat making it more
susceptible to the growth and spread of invasive plants
Prizes
For each category, first prize is $200 and second prize is $100. Click here to see the winning photos from 2007.
Conditions
- All photos must be submitted in digital format and be at least 2500 by 1900 pixels (i.e. taken by a 4 Mega Pixel camera or greater).
- Photos must be submitted through the website (and not emailed directly) or submitted by mail on a CD/DVD with form.
- Photos must be taken within the CKIPC region
- Residents of the CKIPC region will be given priority for prizes.
- Photos must be received by September 19, 2008 at 6:00pm
- By submitting a photo to the contest, you provide the Central Kootenay Invasive Plant Committee to use the photo for its educational purposes (e.g. presentations, brochures, website, etc.). Credit during photo use will be given to the photographer.
